What does this scholarship award mean to you?
This scholarship means the world to me because it represents an opportunity to pursue my passion for education while also eliminating some financial burden off my family. I am committed to honoring the values of this scholarship by making the most of my education.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?
I chose to attend the University of Mississippi because of the variety of growth and leadership opportunities, scholarships awarded, and the feeling of a sense of home and welcoming.
Tell us about a favorite memory, professor, and/or academic course during your time at the School of Education:
One of my favorite memories from the School of Education was being enrolled in the EDWP classes. I didn't realize the importance and diversity that integration could bring until I took those courses. Each one holds a special place in my heart!
What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?
I was inspired to pursue a degree at the School of Education because teaching has always been my passion. Since I was a little girl, I could remember playing "teacher" with my stuffed animals and cousins. I specifically chose this education program because it is one of the best in Mississippi, and I wanted to attend an in-state college.
Tell us about your community involvements and/or hobbies:
While being here at Ole Miss, I have volunteered at a variety of places such as an after school program at Central Elementary school, Holding Hands resale shop, Gordon Cultural Community Center, etc. Currently, I volunteer for Thacker Mountain Radio Show every Thursday where I serve as a Production Assistant.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to go straight into the workforce while simultaneously obtaining a Master's in Elementary Education online.
