Why did you choose to attend UM?

I chose to attend the University of Mississippi because of the academics as I wanted to be challenged and grow intellectually. The extensive research opportunities at UM also attracted me, providing the chance to gain hands-on experience and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries in my field. Additionally, the strong reputation and prestige of UM were significant factors in my decision, as being part of such a respected institution opens up numerous career and networking opportunities. The vibrant campus life and diverse student body were important to me as well, offering a community where I could engage with people from various backgrounds and perspectives. Furthermore, the university's extensive and active alumni network promised valuable mentorship and career guidance.

When and how did you choose your major(s)/minor(s)?

I chose my major when I was in the Grove Scholars Program the summer before my freshman year. I chose this because a student spoke to us and told me how hard BioChem would be and so I decided to challenge myself.

What would you tell a high school student about your major?

I would tell them to challenge yourself when it comes to the things you love. Pick a major that you would love doing for the rest of your life not something you hate.

Why is your department a special place?

My department is special because they are very helpful and a very inclusive community. They are excited to expand the young minds of the brilliant individuals that enter.

What do you hope to do after you graduate?

After graduation, I plan to attend medical school and pursue a PhD. I want to become a surgeon specializing in cancer or cardiology.

What are some dream travel destinations?

My dream travel destinations are Bali, Thailand, Tokyo, and Greece.

What is one thing you wish you knew as an incoming freshman that you'd tell your past self?

I wish I would have known how I would have to learn to adapt at learning a skill/ topic and it being on a test the next day. I would also say take time for yourself and not make it all about school.
