Why did you choose to attend UM?

I chose to attend the University of Mississippi because it offers a unique blend of academic excellence, community support, and professional development opportunities that align with my aspirations. As a public health major, I was drawn to UM’s strong commitment to community health initiatives and its emphasis on hands-on learning experiences. The university’s dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment made me confident that I would grow not only academically but also personally.

What can you tell a high school student about your FASTrack experience?

My FASTrack experience at the University of Mississippi was incredibly supportive and rewarding. Being part of the program helped me transition smoothly into college by providing a tight-knit community and personalized advising. One of the highlights was developing a great relationship with my EDHE teacher and classmates, which made me feel more connected and supported. It was a great way to build connections, stay on track academically, and feel more confident navigating my first year. I’d definitely recommend it to any incoming student looking for extra guidance and a sense of community.

What is one thing you wish you knew as an incoming freshman that you'd tell your past self?

One thing I wish I knew as an incoming freshman is that it’s okay to ask for help and lean on your support system. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, whether it’s about academics, campus resources, or just life in general; people are more willing to help than you might think. I’d also tell my past self to read everything and gain my own knowledge instead of relying solely on what others say. Taking the initiative to learn and seek answers makes the journey smoother and more fulfilling.
