Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience

WHAT WE DO

The Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience promotes student success through comprehensive, multifaceted, and dynamic initiatives to ensure a quality collegiate experience for our diverse student population.

Helping Students Reach New Heights

The Center for Student Success and First Year Experience (CSSFYE) is here to help a wide-range of students find success in Ole Miss classrooms, on campus, and in their day-to-day lives. We know that college and life can be challenging sometimes, but that shouldn't be a reason to stop you from reaching new heights during your time at Ole Miss.

Here are a few of the things we offer at CSSFYE:

  • We offer one-on-one advising and advising resources. We advise all Freshman Studies majors and freshmen in the following schools: Business Administration, School of Applied Sciences, Accountancy, Engineering, Journalism, and select majors in the College of Liberal Arts.
  • First-Year Experience. First-Year Experience aims to assist students during the first-year (either freshman or transfer) at the University through unique courses designed to allow students to meet others, learn about the University, explore student organizations, and get involved through many activities in and out of the classroom.
  • Student Persistence. Student Persistence is a partnership between UM, the student, and the student's chosen family. Student Persistence helps with developmental and intrusive advising, EDHE courses, coaching, and so much more.
  • Academic Support Programs. Our Academic Support Programs are here to do just that, give you the academic support you need to reach the levels of success you have always dreamed of. Some of our programs include workshops and tutoring, academic skills courses, and consultations and coaching.
  • Success Coaches. Our Success Coaches are here to offer one-on-one help for a wide range of things, from setting goals to professional development. Through a national grant, students are students at the sophomore, junior, and senior academic level are paired with a Success Coach to help the student navigate through their collegiate journey at the University.
