Contractual Readmission Program
Students who are academically suspended may continue their enrollment without sitting out a semester by choosing to participate in the Contractual Readmission Program (CRP) offered through the Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience.
What is the Contractual Readmission Program?
Students on academic suspension can enroll in the Contractual Readmission Program at least two weeks prior to the first day of classes in the fall or spring semester. A student in the Contractual Readmission Program is required to enroll in and successfully complete EDHE 2002: Fundamentals of Active Learning, and earn a 2.20 semester GPA or higher in the returning semester. A student who completes the Contractual Readmission Program requirements but who earns a semester GPA of between 2.00 and 2.19 may continue in the program to complete all requirements during the following semester.
- A student will be academically dismissed if the student fails to:
- Achieve good standing, or
- Achieve at least a 2.00 semester GPA on 12 or more hours, or
- Complete all Contractual Readmission Program requirements at the end of the second semester in the program.
The CRP offers additional support to students, but it requires a higher level of commitment and academic performance in return. This option is available only to students who are academically suspended, not dismissed, and requires an application process. As a general rule, applications can be submitted right after grades post, but must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of the spring/fall semester in which they hope to return, but please follow the posted deadline.

Next Steps: After You Submit Your Application
Students will complete their online CRP application and the application will be reviewed by a Learning Specialist in Academic Support Programs. By completing the application students acknowledge and agree to the restrictions and higher standards as outlined below.
- Learning Specialists will review the applications.
- The student is responsible for submitting their own Financial Aid Appeal (if needed) through the Office of Financial Aid (in Martindale-Cole, or by calling 1-800-891-4596).
- Learning Specialists will notify the Office of the Registrar if a student has been accepted into the Contractual Readmission Program, the student will be readmitted on academic probation, and they will be notified by email from a Learning Specialist in Academic Support Programs.
- Once students have been readmitted, they will add or be added to the EDHE 2002: Fundamentals of Active Learning required course (2 credit hour course).
Program Expectations
Students who choose to participate in the Contractual Readmission Program are expected to meet the following requirements and responsibilities.
Each student is expected to meet with their academic advisor to determine the best possible schedule to meet degree requirements and have a balanced academic load. Semester course loads for students in the CRP will be limited to 16 credit hours (so that the required 2 credit hour course, EDHE 2002 can be added). All students in the CRP are required to register for a minimum of 12 credit hours.
All students returning from academic suspension or dismissal are required to enroll in EDHE 2002: Fundamentals of Active Learning, a 2-credit graded course. The course guides three aspects of students academic behaviors:
Planner Checks- Students are required to keep a weekly planner throughout the semester, and their weekly planner checks in this course count towards their overall grade.
Weekly Meetings- EDHE 2002 meets one day a week, and students are expected to attend each meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to monitor a students’ academic performance, learn study skills, and build crucial academic habits. Weekly attendance counts towards their overall grade.
Weekly Homework Assignments and Discussion Boards- New topics are covered in class each week, and students are required to submit weekly homework assignments and discussion boards. Both assessments count towards their overall grade.
Higher Semester GPA- Students must earn a semester GPA of 2.2 or above while participating in the Contractual Readmission Program. This higher standard will help students achieve good standing (cumulative GPA of a 2.0 or higher) in a more, timely manner, and it matches the requirements held by the Office of Financial Aid. If the student earns between a 2.0 and a 2.19 semester GPA, then they will need to repeat EDHE 2002 in their next semester of attendance. If the student earns less than a 2.0 semester GPA they will be placed on academic dismissal, regardless of whether, or not they passed EDHE 2002.
Successful Completion of EDHE 2002- Students must enroll in and successfully complete EDHE 2002 (a grade of a C or higher) as a condition of the CRP.
