Our bike services are designed to keep you riding smoothly, whether you're a daily commuter or a weekend adventurer.
Bike Resources
Any student, faculty, or staff bringing a bike on to campus is encouraged to register it with the Department of Parking & Transportation. Registering your bike can help recover it in the event it is lost or stolen, as well as help the university determine the needs of bikes are being adequately met. Registration is free and valid for four years.
Rebel Pedals is the bicycle sharing program of the University of Mississippi. Rebel Pedals was established to make the quality of student life better by giving students increased access to affordable bicycles, a healthy alternative to driving a car. Our mission is to promote bicycling as a desirable means of transportation in a greater effort to strengthen a culture of sustainability on campus.
By providing an accessible, cost-effective bike loan program to the University of Mississippi student body, Rebel Pedals provides a convenient way to get to class, encourages off-campus exploration, and promotes a healthy body and environment. Rebel Pedals is a program through the Department of Parking & Transportation.
Renting a Bike
Anyone wishing to rent a bike should visit the Bike Shop (located in the Kennon Observatory Loop). The rental program operates on a first come, first serve basis. All rentals are $30, valid for one semester, and include a helmet and lock. The style and number of bikes in the rental fleet varies from semester to semester.
How to register your bike
Fill out the Bike Registration Form and take it to the Bike Shop to obtain a permit. You will need to provide the make, model, and color of your bike. Registration is free and valid for at least four years.
Protect your investment
Registering your bike helps the University gather data to ensure bicycles have adequate parking and other amenities on campus. Registering your bike can also help UPD recover a bicycle in the event it is lost or stolen.
Most bicycle thefts are due to unlocked or improperly locked bikes. Follow these tips to prevent your bike from being stolen:
- Never leave your bike unlocked
- Always use a high quality U-lock or chain. For added security, use both.
- Always lock your bike to a bike rack; never to a tree, handrail, or pole. Be sure to secure the frame and front wheel to the rack.
A Bike Donation, Recycling, and Refurbishment Program
Bike Give-Back is a program designed to facilitate recycling of bikes from those who are no longer using them to those who need them. It is a donation program, a recycling program, and a refurbishment program.
Bike Give-Back supports the Rebel Pedals mission by increasing the overall number of available bikes available for use and further enhancing the Ole Miss bike culture.
Have a bike you are not using any more? Donate it to this program! We will refurbish it and find a good home for it. Email bike@olemiss.edu.
Do you need a bike? Once we refurbish a bike, it becomes eligible to rent in the Rebel Pedals program.
If you have a bike you would like to donate, please email: bike@olemiss.edu
