Early Learning

The School of Education’s Willie Price Lab School and the UM Evaluation Clinic will join to become the UM Early Learning and Evaluation Center at the South Oxford Center. Expected to open in 2027, this state-of-the-art facility will create a new dynamic preschool for children up to 5 years old and establish a comprehensive evaluation clinic for children with autism across the state. This one-of-a-kind partnership highlights UM's commitment to supporting educational opportunities for all children in Mississippi.

Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program Campaign

Endowment funds to support the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program are being sought. The program trains some of the brightest minds to lead classrooms across the state. Originally started by the Mississippi Legislature to address a teacher shortage here, the program has grant funds to operate, but program leaders would like to have an endowment to run the program if funding ends.

Endowed Professorships

The School of Education recently created its first ever endowed professorship and hopes to create more in the coming years. Your support could help bring a talented scholar to campus to train the next generation of educators.

C.O.P.E. Expansion

The university offers counseling services through its Clinic for Outreach and Personal Enrichment, known as COPE, is also based at the South Oxford Center. The clinic provides tele-mental health counseling services for school districts in Mississippi. They offer play therapy and other services there at the clinic, as well. The SOE is hoping to expand the work of COPE and increase its digital presence in hopes of serving more Mississippians.
