Your Support Matters
Student Experience Fund
Our journalism students are provided invaluable opportunities to secure internships and attend industry conferences, furthering their education beyond the classroom. To help ensure these experiences are accessible to all, the school is seeking philanthropic support to cover the associated costs of these immersive learning experiences. By investing in this fund, you empower our students to gain real-world experience, enriching their education and broadening their professional horizons.
The Jordan Center for Advocacy and Innovation
The newly established Jordan Center for Advocacy and Innovation is dedicated to improving the U.S. media landscape while equipping consumers with the tools to critically evaluate truth and accuracy in news reporting. The university is now seeking matching funds to elevate the Center’s impact and further its mission of creating informed and engaged citizens.
Student-Led Marketing Agency
In an innovative program at Ole Miss, students gain real-world experience by working directly with businesses and community organizations through a student-led marketing agency. This initiative allows students to apply their marketing skills in a practical setting and build a portfolio that will help launch their careers. By supporting this initiative, donors contribute to both the personal growth of students and the success of local businesses.
The S. Gale Denley Student Media Center
For over a century, Ole Miss students have developed their journalism skills by working in student media. The Daily Mississippian, NewsWatch, Rebel Radio, and The Ole Miss Yearbook are all house at The S. Gale Denley Student Media Center housed in Bishop Hall. This magic place is where all student media converges, giving students the hands-on experience essential for award-winning careers. A renovation would enhance these learning opportunities for the next generation of media professionals.
The Mississippi Media Lab
The Mississippi Media Lab is a dynamic platform that allows Ole Miss students to produce and distribute quality news content to national and local media outlets. Students create podcasts, editorials, investigative reports, and more, through coursework, independent studies, and internships. With your support, we can expand the lab’s reach, amplifying the work of our students and showcasing their talent to a wider audience.
Technology Funds
In the fast-evolving world of media, access to cutting-edge technology is essential. The School of Journalism and New Media is committed to equipping students with the latest cameras, computers, microphones, and other vital tools for storytelling. Through the Technology Fund, donors help ensure that students are prepared with the resources they need to succeed, keeping them at the forefront of digital media and journalism.
