Give: University of Mississippi Museum and Rowan Oak
Preserve history and inspire future generations through your support.

Preserving the Past. Inspiring the Future.
The University Museum and Rowan Oak are cultural treasures that bring art, history, and learning to life. Visitors from around the world come to experience world-class exhibitions, walk historic trails, and explore rare collections that span centuries and continents.
As a teaching museum, we spark curiosity and creativity through hands-on learning, lectures, and mentorships. Art lovers, students, and scholars find inspiration in our galleries and programs, which connect the past to today’s most urgent conversations.

Sustaining Leadership and Legacy
Endowing key museum roles—including the director and curator—ensures long-term excellence in exhibitions, preservation, and education. A new Historic Landscape Specialist at Rowan Oak will help restore the plants and gardens to look like they did when William Faulkner lived there.

Expanding Access to Art and Culture
With donor support, we’ll grow our public art collection and fund dynamic exhibitions that spotlight many cultures and voices—broadening perspectives for visitors of all ages.

Enhancing Education
From student internships to family workshops, our programs foster lifelong learning. Private support will add to the visitor’s center and fund inclusive storytelling tools at Rowan Oak, honoring the lives of enslaved individuals and expanding public understanding.

A New Visitor Center at Rowan Oak
Faulkner, widely regarded as one of greatest writers of the 20th Century, thrived in the peace and beauty of Rowan Oak, his modified Greek Revival home on 33 acres. The home is open to the public year-round. A new $2.5 million visitor centers would welcome visitors to Faulkner’s “little postage stamp of native soil” and add to anyone’s trip to the nationally recognized historic landmark.

Summer Program
We want to discover students from across the state, whether their schools have art programs or not. We want to find talented students in Mississippi who have never been encouraged or dreamed about the possibilities of developing their gifts in the arts. Then, we want to bring them to campus to show them what’s possible through the arts.

Creating Spaces Worthy of the Collection
We envision updated galleries, a new welcome center, and an auditorium for global programming—all designed to showcase our vast collections too plentiful to display, host renowned speakers, and welcome the community in powerful new ways.
