About the University of Mississippi
The University of Mississippi, affectionately known as Ole Miss, is Mississippi’s flagship university. Ranked as an elite R1 Doctoral University by the Carnegie Classification, Ole Miss maintains a diverse research program that spans the arts and physical sciences to engineering and biomedical fields. It houses the nation's oldest and largest space law program, a center dedicated to supporting American manufacturing, two Language Flagship programs and 16 academic divisions, including a major medical school and nationally recognized schools of accountancy, law and pharmacy. Acclaimed for its beauty, Ole Miss' main campus is in Oxford, which is routinely included among the nation's best college towns.

- For the fifth consecutive year, the university has achieved record overall enrollment, reflecting a strong demand for the transformative education and opportunities we provide.
- Our first-year retention rate at 87.2% leads the state and is higher than the most recent national average of 68.2%, demonstrating a growing proportion of Ole Miss students are succeeding.
- With over 6,200 graduates for the Class of 2025, our six-year graduation rate is now at 71.7%, by far the highest in Mississippi and 9.5% above the most recent national average. This represents a significant increase over 2023 and is the highest in the university’s records.
- Now & Ever, the Campaign for Ole Miss was the largest fundraising campaign in Mississippi's history, raising $1.75 billion. Nearly 95,000 donors invested in scholarships, health care initiatives, endowed faculty positions and transformative facilities that will serve our students and state for generations to come.
- Our endowment surpassed $1 billion, placing Ole Miss among a select group of peer institutions.
- The September 2025 U.S. News & World Report "Best Colleges" rankings reaffirmed the University of Mississippi as the top public university in the state and among the best in the nation. This marks the 15th consecutive year the university has been ranked among the nation’s top public universities.
- We have a long history of Ole Miss students competing on the national stage for prestigious scholarships and opportunities. We’ve had 73 Fulbright recipients, 20 Truman Scholars and 26 Goldwater Scholars.
- In 2024, we opened the Jim and Thomas Duff Center for Science and Technology Innovation with 202,000 square feet dedicated to STEM learning, equipping our students for careers in medicine, computer technology, chemical engineering, robotics, and more.
- In service to the health of Mississippians, the University of Mississippi Medical Center has launched a $125 million campaign to build a new, world-class cancer facility and advance efforts to secure National Cancer Institute designation. The new facility will deliver cutting-edge care and foster groundbreaking research while positioning UMMC to become Mississippi’s first and only NCI-designated cancer center.
- For the 16th year, Ole Miss has been named one of the nation's Great Colleges to Work For by The Chronicle of Higher Education. Recognized alongside 76 other institutions, this designation reflects the extraordinary contributions of our people and their genuine care for one another.
