Graduate Scholarship Opportunities

The School of Education offers a variety of scholarship opportunities for Graduate-level students across many departments and majors. See below a list of all available graduate scholarships.

Nancy Virginia Stasiak Carden School of Education Scholarship

Award Range: Varies

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Full Time Out of State student in the SOE who are K-8 education majors with academic achievement, leadership potential and financial need.

 

Thomas Richardson and Alice Ragland Lamar Memorial Scholarship

Award Range: $1,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Full-time education majors.

 

Glynne and Ann Simpson Scholarship

Award Range: $1,500 - $1,900

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate degree-seeking students with first preference being given to University graduates who have taught at least two years at an accredited school within Mississippi and returning as graduate students.

 

Hosemann Family Autism Excellence Fund

Award Range: $5,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate students pursuing a degree in the M.Ed. Applied Behavior. Preference given to students from Mississippi and/or those with a stated desire to remain in Mississippi following graduation.

Luetta W. Ford Scholarship for Special Education in Honor of James W. Mann

Award Range: $1,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate education majors with first preference given to students enrolled in the Applied Behavior Analysis program.

Parker Lifeshare

Award Range: Varies

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate students pursuing a Master's Degree Applied Behavior Analysis.

Renasant Bank Scholarship

Award Range: Varies

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate students pursuing a Master's Degree Applied Behavior Analysis.

Clark Legacy Scholarship

Award Range: Varies

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate Students in Early Childhood Education with priority to Track and Field Athletes.

Joseph Wiley Blackston Memorial Scholarship

Award Range: Varies

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate Students in Early Childhood Education with priority to Track and Field Athletes.

North Mississippi Education Consortium Graduate Leadership Scholarship

Award Range: $1,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Mississippi school superintendents or principles pursing a doctorate degree in education who are from the region served by the North Mississippi Education Consortium and have attended or work at member school districts.

Pamela P. and Jerome W. Smith Excellence in Educational Leadership

Award Range: $1,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Doctoral students in educational leadership, with first preference being given to students who will concurrently practice in education as they pursue their doctoral degrees.

Eddie and Jahnae Barnett Scholarship in Higher Education

Award Range: $650 - $1,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Recipients will be students in the School of Education who aspire to work in higher education. Preference is first given to graduate students and second to undergraduate students.

John R. Fawcett Higher Education Scholarship

Award Range: $1,000 - $1,500

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Full-time or part-time graduate students in Higher Education programs with first priority preference being given to students who are Veterans of United States Military Service.

Lindsay O. Todd Scholarship

Award Range: $3,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate students in education with preference given to former Mississippi community college students, current or former Mississippi community college faculty or employees and/or current education practitioners. Preference is given to recipients with connections or wish to serve in east central Mississippi. Recipients should aspire to serve at a high-level public school or community college administrator, thus replicating the type of leadership that Dr. Todd provided to Mississippi both as a school superintendent and a community college president.

Robert B. Ellis Higher Edudcation Scholarship

Award Range: $750 - $1,500

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Degree-seeking students in higher education who demonstrate academic, leadership, and professional excellence.

Muriel O. Rogers Literary Education Scholarship

Award Range: $1,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate students who are enrolled in childhood literacy-focused master’s programs.

Bob Depro Education Excellence Scholarship for Social Studies Majors

Award Range: $5,000 - $10,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are selected as the most outstanding students majoring in social studies education.

21 United Scholarship

Award Range: $1,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Graduate students enrolled in the special education program who exhibits a commitment to working with students with Down Syndrome. Priority will be given to students who express interest to remain in North Mississippi for at least two years after graduation. Recipients will be invited to serve on the board of 21 United Oxford for the term of their scholarship award. If a graduate student does not meet these criteria, an undergraduate student may be considered for this scholarship award.

Joan Gilbert Smith Scholarship for Special Education

Award Range: $1,000- $1,375

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Special Education majors who and demonstrate *financial need and academic excellence from of the twenty-three counties served by the North Mississippi Regional Center in Oxford.

*Financial need is determined by FAFSA - the Free Application for Federal Student Aid filed with the UM Office of Financial Aid

Billy and Joyce Neville Scholarship [COMING SOON]

Award Range: TBD

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Recipients will be enrolled in the master’s of special education program within the School of Education.

James N. and Bettye M. Butler Scholarship

Award Range: $1,000

Additional Requirements/Criteria: Full-time school of education majors who are pursuing a BAED or MED with first preference being given to students from the counties of Union, Pontotoc, and Lafayette Counties in Mississippi.
