Degree Progression
The School of Education undergraduate programs are organized into three phases as described below. Candidates are required to meet Phase II admission criteria in order to be officially admitted to the School of Education and move forward with professional education courses.
Requirements for admission to Phase II (Teacher Education Program):
- Completion of core curriculum
- A minimum core grade point average of 2.75
- Passing scores on Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (CORE)*
* Praxis Core Exemption: Students who provide proof of an ACT score of at least a 21 composite (or SAT equivalent) OR have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a minimum of 60 hours of completed coursework are exempt from taking the Praxis CORE exam for admission to Phase II.
Courses EDCI 352 and EDSP 308 are the only professional education courses that may be taken prior to admission to Phase II. Elementary Education majors may also take EDRD 355. A minimum grade of “C” in all professional education courses is required.
