Franklin College utilizes TeachLive in various ways to help prepare teacher candidates. They practice a hallway scenario where the teacher candidate has a one-on-one discussion with a student avatar regarding a disruptive or off-task behavior. In addition, teacher candidates practice delivering self made lesson plans, as well as conducting parent teacher conferences to practice communication skills.
Wright State University implements a banned book scenario where the setting is at a local school board meeting. The goal of the simulation is to promote civil discourse while leading constructive conversations by building trust, understanding, and engagement among diverse perspectives. Teacher candidates also practice their communication and classroom management skills with parent teacher conferences and teaching scenarios.
University of Southern Indiana incorporates TeachLive into their reading methodology courses in Teacher Education. The purpose of the simulation is to apply the Science of Reading by administering diagnostic screeners to the student avatars. This experience enhances teacher candidates’ understanding of word recognition and language comprehension by bridging theory into practice. The simulation provides students with a unique experience that compliments their field experience requirements.
