Tuition Benefits and Financial Aid for Faculty, Staff, and Their Families
The University of Mississippi values its faculty and staff and wants to help you and your family succeed in higher education. This page explains the tuition benefits and financial aid resources available to employees and their dependent children. By following the steps outlined here, you can take full advantage of the support offered to grow professionally and achieve educational goals.
To get started, make sure you complete HR Form 19 from the Human Resources website and submit it through your department. If you plan to apply for federal aid, complete the FAFSA. Remember, you must be a degree-seeking student and enrolled in at least six credit hours for undergraduate courses (five hours for graduate courses) to qualify for federal student loans. Once your applications are processed, check your status online and accept your awards to ensure timely disbursement.
Faculty and staff can also advance their education with departmental support. With your department head’s approval, eligible employees can enroll in courses that enhance career growth or personal development. The number of courses you may take depends on your employment status and applies to regular semesters, summer sessions, and intersessions.
The University also provides tuition waivers for children of eligible employees. If your dependent meets the qualifying guidelines, they may receive reduced tuition, helping make college more affordable. Review the eligibility requirements and submit a Tuition Waiver application to see how your family can benefit.
This page serves as a practical guide, helping employees understand eligibility, submit forms correctly, and access resources that make higher education attainable for both you and your loved ones.
