Maximize Your Military Education Benefits

Veterans and active-duty service members have access to a range of financial support options to make college more affordable. From GI Bill benefits and Tuition Assistance programs to the Yellow Ribbon Program and veteran-specific scholarships, there are multiple ways to cover your educational expenses. Learn how to apply, what each benefit includes, and how to combine them to reduce out-of-pocket costs and get the most from your military service.

Processing Your Benefits

ALL CORE DOCUMENTS (Certificate of Eligibility, Statement of Understanding, Student Info Sheet, and Degree Plan) MUST BE EMAILED TOGETHER.

Make sure you have all the proper documentation to have your benefits processed correctly and on time.


All forms must be typed and submitted in one email using your Ole Miss email address for your first term. After your first term, only submit your TAF and Schedule for each term you wish to use benefits. Term Approval Forms are only accepted from academic advisors.

The Certificate of Eligibility (COE) shows eligibility for VA Benefits; the application's confirmation page may serve as a placeholder until you receive your COE.

Please remember that students must submit a COE to VMS before your first semester using benefits at Ole Miss ends.

Read the entire document, complete the acknowledgement section on the bottom of the first page, and submit only the first page.

Provide a degree plan for your degree program. Degree plans can be found in the Ole Miss Academic Catalog.

Changes of Major will require the Change of Major Form, a new Student Information Sheet, an approved schedule, and a new degree plan.

Only required to be turned in once.

TAFs MUST BE EMAILED FROM ACADEMIC ADVISOR TO VETERANS@OLEMISS.EDU

Must be typed, signed, and approved by both the student and the student’s academic advisor. 

The TAF and schedule must be submitted EVERY SEMESTER the student wishes to use their benefit(s).

*It is the student's responsibility to submit a copy of their course schedule to VMS.

Out-of-state dependents whom have exhausted their GI Bill benefit(s) may continue to receive the Dependents Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship by submitting this form every term after exhausting their benefit.

To remain eligible for this scholarship, dependents MUST remain continuously enrolled in at least fall and spring semesters. Failure to enroll in fall and spring semesters will terminate use of this scholarship.

This scholarship only applies to the last degree for which GI Bill benefits were used.
