Drone Law
Drone law encompasses the legal rules and regulations governing the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, with a focus on safety, privacy, and their operation within national airspace.
Mississippi Task Force on Drone Law and Policy
The Mississippi Task Force on Drone Law and Policy at the University of Mississippi, led by Center for Air and Space Law Executive Director Michelle Hanlon and Program Director Allison Lewis, hopes to raise awareness of the benefits offered by Mississippi UAS, to assure the development of a legal framework that will balance the interests of all stakeholders and support the safe integration of UAS into the national airspace.
Drones are transforming the way emergency responders save lives and safeguard our communities—here in Mississippi and far beyond. Whether it’s finding missing persons or surveying disaster zones, these tools prove their value every single day.
At Ole Miss Law, our Center for Air and Space Law is at the forefront, advancing this vital industry through cutting-edge research and policy. We’re proud to host the nation’s only program dedicated to drone law and policy—and even prouder to support Mississippi’s first responders.

Drone activities offer unique legal and policy challenges at both the national and the international level. At the University of Mississippi we recognize the need for a platform for practicing attorneys and interested parties to publish timely articles in this field and we are delighted to offer this opportunity to collect and publish original thoughtful and thought-provoking analyses.
Submit manuscripts and abstracts in Microsoft Word format only by email to Michelle Hanlon.
