He also participated in a service trip to Costa Rica with Rice and Beans Ministries, where he gained insight into the needs of the Alajuela region. In the summer of 2023, as part of the CEED program, Reed interned with the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office in Jackson, MS, where he enhanced the Y’all Business interactive platform by utilizing census data to improve small business plans. Reed is the younger brother of CEED alumna Virginia Parkinson. Upon completing his master's program, he plans to pursue CPA certification and a career in public accounting.
