Common Data Set
The Common Data Set provides standardized data to prospective students, allowing them to compare key information such as admissions, academics, financial aid, and campus life.
Common Data Sets Categories
The CDS information is divided into ten categories:
- Section A. General Information. Mailing addresses, institutional classification, academic calendar year, and degrees offered.
- Section B. Enrollment and Persistence. Fall enrollment data, degrees awarded, graduation rates, and retention rates.
- Section C. First-time, First-year (Freshmen) Admission. Degree-seeking, first-time, first-year students who applied, were admitted, and enrolled; admissions requirements; freshmen profile; and admissions policies.
- Section D. Transfer Admission. Transfer students who applied, were admitted, and enrolled; transfer admissions and credit policies.
- Section E. Academic Offerings and Policies. Programs offered at the University of Mississippi, areas in which students are required to complete coursework prior to graduation, and library collection data.
- Section F. Student Life. Freshmen and undergraduate demographic statistics, summary of activity programs available at UM, ROTC information, and housing information.
- Section G. Annual Expenses. Full-time undergraduate annual expenses and per-credit-hour charges.
- Section H. Financial Aid. Financial aid awarded to full- and part-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students; policies regarding institutional grant aid to nonresident aliens; process for freshmen applying for financial aid; and types of financial aid available.
- Section I. Instructional Faculty and Class Size. Instructional faculty, including demographic statistics, student-to-faculty ratio, and class size.
- Section J. Degrees Conferred. Percentage of Bachelor’s degrees awarded by area of discipline.
