Hear What Employees Are Saying...
“Exercise is so important for our mental and physical health, and we have so many opportunities available to us through the programs offered on campus. I enjoy the fitness classes so much but even more important to me are the lasting friendships that I have made over the years and the camaraderie with coworkers that I experience every time I’m in a class or playing Pickleball. I’ve met people from across campus and the community that I would have otherwise never met if not for having participated in the programs. I encourage everyone to come and join us!” – Patricia Oswalt, College of Liberal Arts
“The Double Decker Walk Jog 5K fitness preparation program offered in early 2024 exceeded my expectations! As someone in their mid-60s who had never participated in a 5K run before, this free 8-week training program offered by Campus Recreation and Red, Blue & Well was just what I needed to gradually get my body and mind in the condition required for such a physical challenge. Val’s encouragement and guidance were key to my staying with this program and successfully completing my first 5K. Thank you for making the Double Decker Walk Jog 5K program available as part of UM's Red, Blue & Well employee wellness program, and a special thank you to Val and everyone with Campus Recreation.” – Jon Scott, UM Development Office
“I had reached my highest weight and my unhealthiest self, and I used every available excuse for not getting back on track. When the University announced the Red, Blue, and Well program and FREE fitness classes for employees only, I no longer had any excuse. I was very self-conscious and intimidated by the idea of working out with others who were in better shape, but every fitness instructor is accommodating to all fitness levels and experience and genuinely cheers on each participant. I’ve been attending various fitness classes consistently since January, and I am now down 27 pounds and more energetic and happier than I have been in years.” – Dakota Robertson, Fast Track Program
