Why Should I Sign up for Up-to-date Emergency Communication?
Emergencies can happen at any moment. When they do, things can move very quickly. Without the proper information you run the risk of making bad decisions in a high-risk environment--decisions that can have terrible consequences.
The communication systems used by Emergency Management help you:
- Know what is occuring on campus
- Know what to do in response
- Protect yourself and others

Information can save lives during a crisis. That's why you need to make sure that you are getting the freshest, information possiblel in case of an emergency on campus.
The REBALERT System is the University of Mississippi’s emergency notification service, activated during immediate emergencies, including certain criminal incidents, severe weather, or other imminent threats to campus.
- When REBALERT is activated, you may receive simultaneous notifications via telephone calls, emails, and text messages to keep you informed and safe.
- REBALERT is available to UM employees, students, and parents. University employees and students who have provided a valid cell phone number will automatically receive REBALERT text messages, which are compatible with any cellular device, including non-smartphones.
How can I sign up for RebAlert?
- Employees can add their cell phone numbers in myOleMiss by navigating to the Employee tab, then selecting My HR Tools, followed by Address and Communication Preferences.
- Students can sign up by going to the Student tab, then selecting My Profile, and Contact Information.
- Parents may also register for REBALERT notifications by following our step-by-step guide to set up a Parent WebID.
- Emergency Call: Quick, one-touch dialing to 911 or campus police
- Inbox: Real-time notifications, alerts, and updates from campus
- Campus Directory: Access to local public health and safety contacts
- Campus Resources: Interactive Oxford campus map, OUT bus routes, campus events, health and safety resources, and mental wellness support
How do I sign up for the Rave Guardian App?
All members of the university community are urged to install the Rave Guardian app on their Android or iOS devices.
- Download the Rave Guardian app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, then enter and verify your contact information.
Be sure to allow the app the requested permissions for full functionality.
Sirens are placed around campus to notify individuals of imminent tornado threats.
- You've probably heard them before. The sirens are tested every Wednesday at noon.
If you hear a siren at any other time, know that it isn't a test or a drill.
Hotty Toddy TV is a network of televisions positioned across campus that helps facilitate communication across campus.
- Hotty Toddy TVs are not solely used for Emergency Management purposes. But, in the case of an emergency, the Hotty Toddy TV network will show the relevant information.
