Would you like to hone your teaching practice, dive into pedagogical research, mentor fellow graduate teachers, and explore careers in college teaching and teaching support? Apply to join the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning as a Graduate Teaching Fellow.
Graduate Teaching Fellows collaborate with CETL staff on teaching development offerings for graduate students and benefit from extensive mentorship as they support peer instructors and work to become better teachers themselves. They receive a stipend of $2,000 per semester for their participation in the year-long program.

About the Program
Details about Graduate Teaching Fellows—and how to become one.
- Participate in a summer welcome session for new Graduate Teaching Fellows and CETL's August Graduate Teaching Orientation
- Meet one hour per week throughout the semester with CETL staff for ongoing professional development
- Co-facilitate the Graduate Reading Group and/or the Fundamentals of Teaching series
- Undertake a self-directed project that will contribute to your professional development as a teacher and/or that of your peers
- Contribute as desired to CETL offerings or research projects that align with your interests and availability
Fellows devote 2-4 hours per week on average to these activities, with no more than 5 hours per week in any given week. They receive a stipend of $2,000 per semester for their participation in the year-long program.
- Workshops and events for graduate students
- Services for graduate students, including classroom observations, teaching consultations, student feedback sessions
Graduate Teaching Fellows co-facilitate one or more of the above based on their goals, interests, and availability.
- Have at least one semester of experience as a TA or graduate instructor
- Are familiar with CETL programming
- Are committed to student-centered, evidence-based teaching that removes barriers for all students
- Are willing to serve one academic year as a Graduate Fellow
- Have multiple semesters of teaching or TA experience
- Be active participants in current CETL programming
- Be well-versed in student-centered, evidence-based teaching that removes barriers for all students
- Be willing to serve two years as a Graduate Fellow
Submitting the following information via Google form by Friday, May 8:
- Your name
- Your department
- Current stage in your program and anticipated graduation date
- A list of courses for which you have served as TA or instructor (at UM or elsewhere)
- A list of programs or events you have participated in at CETL or other teaching centers
- An academic CV or résumé
- A brief cover letter outlining your interest in the program, relevant prior experience, and general teaching approaches
Additionally, please ask your department’s Chair or Graduate Program Coordinator to email ejdonaho@olemiss.edu with a brief statement of support for your application. Statements should simply indicate that the department is aware of and supports the student's proposed work with CETL, and needn't be more than a sentence or two.
