About CISS

CISS stands as a beacon of excellence in intelligence education, combining national recognition, global certification, and exceptional student experiences to prepare future leaders for the challenges of safeguarding our world.

Founding and Mission of the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies

Founded in 2008, CISS is dedicated to preparing students for careers in the national security sector. The Center offers two specialized minors:

  • Intelligence and Security Studies (ISS), and
  • Global Security Studies (GSS).

These programs focus on providing the practical and professional skills required to succeed in national security careers. From critical thinking and analysis to effective communication and collaboration, the Center’s curriculum is designed to produce graduates ready to contribute to the mission from day one.

Shaping the Future of National Security and Intelligence

Our mission is to educate the future national security, cybersecurity & intelligence workforce. A majority of CISS students go directly into the intelligence community or U.S. government after graduation, while others secure employment with think tanks, NGOs, and leading private sector entities.

The national security sector seeks applicants from an increasingly diverse set of backgrounds, reflecting the broad range of threats to U.S. interests. I invite you to peruse the CISS website or stop by the Center to learn about our minors and opportunities in the CISS program.
