Scholarships

The School of Education is thankful for our generous donors who so graciously support our students in their educational pursuits! Scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students. All interested students should first visit the Office of Financial Aid and complete the FAFSA. Additional scholarships are available through the School of Education. How To Apply

The School of Education has both undergraduate & graduate scholarship opportunities. Application forms must be submitted online through the appropriate link below (undergraduate or graduate level scholarships). Transcripts for current and admitted students will be obtained by the SOE Scholarship Committee for review and do not need to be submitted by applicant.

Undergraduate Scholarships

A number of academic scholarships are provided to undergraduate students who are enrolled in a full-time program of study in the School of Education. Interested scholarship applicants are encouraged to visit the website periodically for scholarship announcements. Most scholarship deadlines are March 15th and require a minimum a 2.5 GPA (some scholarships require a higher GPA). Applicants are encouraged to visit with their academic advisor and visit the SAFE Office in the Guyton Annex for more scholarship information. Graduate Scholarships

There are several scholarships available to graduate students in the School of Education. Applications for SOE graduate scholarships will become available May 1st. Current students will receive an email from the Graduate Studies Office notifying them of when the application opens. Applications are due no later than June 15th. Transfer to Teach

Transfer to Teach aims to encourage top-performing Mississippi community college transfer students to pursue a career in education. Students participating in the program will receive financial support up to $5,000 for each of their junior and senior years at the University of Mississippi along with the following incentives:

  • Full annual financial support (estimated up to $5,000 after all other aid is applied)
  • Up to $1,000 technology reimbursement (to be used to purchase a laptop or tablet of your choice)
  • $1,000 allowance for a professional development experience
  • $250 annually for books and other required classroom supplies

North Mississippi Education Consortium (NMEC) Graduate Leadership Scholarship

In support of its vision, the School of Education at the University of Mississippi is making a commitment to support the graduate education needs of school leaders in North Mississippi through the NMEC Graduate Leadership. Recipients of the NMEC Graduate Leadership Scholarship will be school district administrators interested in pursuing advanced, graduate degrees in order to advance equity and excellence and contribute to the development of Mississippi communities.

Features

  • Scholarships provided may be up to 50% the cost of tuition for 1-2 courses applicable to a School of Education graduate program in Educational Leadership.
  • Created to provide professional incentive and recognition for outstanding district superintendents or school principals enrolling in a graduate program in the School of Education at the University of Mississippi. Preference will be given to currently serving district superintendents in North Mississippi.

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grants (TEACH)

This federal grant program has been created for students who intend to pursue a teaching career in a high-need field. Interested students should review the information below and submit a Request for Federal TEACH Grant form.

To receive the TEACH Grant each academic year, a student must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • Be enrolled in a degree program at either the undergraduate or graduate level (undergraduates must qualify for admission to Phase II of the Teacher Education Program, usually at the junior or senior years only – refer to http://education.olemiss.edu/safe/admission.html for requirements)
  • Receive a GPA of at least a 3.25 for each payment periods
    • From high school for first year students
    • From college for other students
    • OR score above the 75th percentile on an admissions test, such as SAT, ACT, or GRE
  • Student must be completing coursework necessary to begin a career in teaching, or must plan to complete coursework necessary to begin a career in teaching.

ROTC Scholarships

The Ole Miss Army ROTC program has several scholarship options available to help defray the cost of your education. These scholarships include 100% tuition with a $100 fee per course. Plus, ROTC offers monthly stipends up to $420 per month and additional program provided merit and need based incentives for cadets in good standing. Additionally, a commission as an Army officer in either the Army National Guard or Army Reserves greatly helps supplement a teacher’s monthly salary after college. Finally, the leadership skills you will learn in Army ROTC also complement the teaching skills you will use when developing lesson plans and managing your classroom.
