Biography
Daniel “DJ” Phillips graduated Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in Music Education. As an undergraduate, he was an active member of the University of Mississippi Wind Ensemble, Low Brass Studio, Sound of the Sip pep band, University Chorus, Concert Singers, and served as a baritone section leader in the Pride of the South Marching Band. DJ completed his student teaching at New Albany Middle and High School, where he was able to get valuable insight and experience working in the field as a music educator. Being a native of North Mississippi, he graduated from Kossuth High School in 2021. Prior to coming to Ole Miss, he earned an Associate of Arts degree from Northeast Mississippi Community College in 2023, where he was also inducted into the Student Hall of Fame. Phillips is a first year graduate student at the University of Mississippi, where he is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Music Education and is excited to have the opportunity to serve as one of the Graduate Assistants for the Ole Miss Bands.
