Biography
Mackenzie is from Coffeeville, Mississippi, and graduated from the University of Mississippi with her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 2023. She is currently a Graduate Assistant for the Department of Teacher Education while she pursues a Master's Degree in the Applied Behavior Analysis program. Upon graduation, Mackenzie plans to stay in Oxford and begin teaching.

Question 1: What do you like most about TeachLive?
I like that TeachLive gives teacher candidates the opportunity to practice their teaching skills in a welcoming environment without the pressures of a real classroom. Being on the other side of TeachLive is very rewarding because I can contribute a small part in the personal and professional growth of teacher candidates. I love to see their progress from semester to semester and witness their confidence grow!
Question 2: What advice do you have for students when preparing for the TeachLive experience?
Realize that you are a teacher! Embrace your role by using your teacher voice, dressing professionally, and connecting with the students. Don't be afraid to address student behaviors and keep them on task. Practice your lesson. The more familiar you are with the content, the more confident you will be for your session! Watch your video. Reflecting on your strengths and areas for growth will prepare you to be the best teacher you can be!
Question 3: How do you think TeachLive helps prepare teacher candidates?
Exposure to our diverse teaching scenarios prepares teacher candidates to handle various classroom dynamics and student needs effectively. They get to apply what they learn in their courses directly to our TeachLive avatars. TeachLive prepares teacher candidates to think on their feet a adapt their teaching strategies accordingly. Overall, TeachLive prepares them for encounters they will face in their future careers.
