Our Director
The Department of Student Housing at the University of Mississippi strives to transform students’ lives through the campus living experience. Campus housing is an essential part of the college experience, as living on campus offers students a strong foundation for student success through bringing residents into contact with campus resources, faculty, and staff that create connections, belonging, and Ole Miss pride.

Student Worker Opportunities
In the Department of Student Housing, we have multiple opportunities for student worker positions. These are hourly positions that are open to all of our students across campus.

Desk Assistants (DAs) provide service at the front desks of our residence halls for residents, visitors, and staff.
DA duties include but are not limited to:
- providing outstanding customer service
- greeting all students
- checking student IDs
- answering the phone
- taking messages
- monitoring the lobby
- maintaining the visitation log
- assisting student housing staff members
- reporting maintenance needs
- checking equipment in and out, and
- other tasks required by the department
The Resident Assistant (RA) is responsible for a floor, wing, or area of a residence hall or apartment community.
The duties of the Resident Assistant include but aren't limited to:
- helping with the personal and academic concerns of the student and to help work out any group conflicts that may arise.
- serving as a facilitator to encourage a cooperative and considerate group living environment.
- building a feeling of togetherness and community by initiating and helping to organize floor, wing, and hall activities and programs.
- serving as an information resource for the campus and residence hall.
Most of all, the RA is expected to be a person who cares about people and who works to make the residence hall or apartment community a valuable place to live.

The duties of the Summer Assistant include but aren't limited to:
- providing quality customer service and serves as a recruiter for Ole Miss
- serving as an information resource for the campus and The Department of Student Housing
- monitoring the activities of guests to ensure their safety and security
- assisting with emergency situations
- working the front desk and assisting with check-in and check-out of guests.
This position will work with the Department of Student Housing IT area and perform work related to the information technology needs of the department.
Work requires basic technical skills and good judgment. Student will work under the supervision of Housing IT professional staff for 10-15 hours per week.
Looking to get involved on campus? Look no further than our Academic Resource Center. Housing is seeking a team of Academic Mentors for our ARC, located on the first floor of Stewart Hall!
- This position will serve all students that visit the space seeking a study room, advice on courseworkk, or a referral to other campus resources.
- This role will provide outstanding customer service, success strategies, and knowledge of the campus and its academic resources.
- All hired AMs will be trained in basic academic success ttechniquees and have a working relationship with our campus partners.
This position is perfect for someone who wants to help others succeed in the classroom. A great position for any student at the University of Mississippi, whether you live on or off campus!
