Our residence halls close for specified academic breaks and at the close of each semester.

Spring 2026 Information

Spring Semester Closing 2026

All University owned and managed communities will close for Summer Break on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. CT

Buildings close: Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. CT

Finals Week is May 4 – May 8, 2026. Students should plan check out of their room no later than 24 hours after their last final. 

All students need to complete the following steps as they prepare to check out and leave for the semester:

  • Close the windows
  • Open blinds and curtains to allow sunlight into room (Except for ground floor rooms)
  • Unplug all appliances (including micro-fridges, which should be defrosted)
  • Remove all trash from the room or apartment and clean all surfaces and floors
  • Remove all personal items from the room
  • Return furniture to its original setup position
  • Take photos of the room
  • Turn off the lights
  • Complete the checkout process in the Housing Portal

Please do not attempt to repair any damages in the room.

Damage Charges

Students will be sent an email to their Ole Miss email account about any damage charges upon checkout prior to May 22, 2026.

If students believe there is an error or are able to demonstrate they were not responsible for a listed damage, an appeal may be submitted through the Student Housing Portal by selecting Online Forms from the red menu bar.

The appeal window will be open from Friday, May 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. CT through Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. CT.

Appeals submitted after June 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. will not be reviewed

  • All questions regarding damage charges in Burns, Minor, Pittman, RH2, RH3, Stockard, and Martin should be directed to Taylor Alston at tmalston@olemiss.edu
  • All questions regarding damage charges in Crosby, Brown, Hefley, Deaton, RH1, Northgate, and Stewart should be directed to Ethan Cruse at jecruse@olemiss.edu
  • All questions regarding damage charges at The Quarters Oxford, Flatts at South Campus, Rev Oxford, Suites Oxford, Campus Walk, and Taylor Bend should be directed to Missy Belcher at mbelcher@olemiss.edu
  • All questions regarding damage charges in Residential College South and Luckyday Residential College should be directed to Michael Brown at mcbrown8@olemiss.edu

Academic Breaks

See which halls stay open during academic breaks.

All halls will remain open for Thanksgiving Break.

Buildings that remain open: Residence Hall 3, Luckyday Residential College, Residential College South, and all apartment communities. 

Buildings that close: Brown, Burns, Crosby, Deaton, Hefley, Minor, Martin, Pittman, Residence Hall 1, Residence Hall 2, Stewart, Stockard.

Important Dates for halls that close for winter break: 

  • Halls close: December 13, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. CT 
  • Halls open for Winter Intersession: January 4, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. CT

 

Spring Move-in for all new Spring semester students is January 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. CT

All halls will remain open for Spring Break.

All students must be moved out of their room or apartment 24 hours following their last final exam. All residence halls and apartments close on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. CT.
