Frequently asked questions

Starting a new job can be a bit overwhelming, but don’t worry, our team is here to guide you. Here are some common questions to help you get started.

All new, benefits-eligible faculty and staff begin their first day with a Benefits Orientation led by the Human Resources team. The session is held at the Jackson Avenue Center - Central, located at 1111 Jackson Avenue West.

During this orientation, you’ll learn about the University’s benefits, including insurance plans, retirement programs, fringe benefits, life insurance and leave.

Yes, all benefits-eligible employees start with a Benefits Orientation, where you’ll get an overview of insurance, retirement and leave options.

You’re also invited to sign up for our “Welcome Home” Employee Orientation. During this session, you’ll meet leaders from across the University and learn about our mission, vision and history. This orientation is offered throughout the year.

We encourage all new employees to attend Benefits Orientation in person whenever possible. However, if you're not working on the Oxford campus, we understand that attending in person may be challenging. To accommodate this, we offer Zoom Benefits Orientations. If you cannot attend in person, please notify the Human Resources team after receiving your onboarding paperwork via email before your start date.

All faculty and staff need an Ole Miss ID card.

Once a new hire has completed their onboarding link, the Human Resources team will roll you into SAP and issue you a temporary parking pass and a form to obtain their University ID. These documents will be emailed to you prior to your start date.

After orientation, head to the ID Center to have your photo taken and receive your ID card.

This card can be used to pay for meals and other items on campus and will grant you access to your assigned lab spaces or offices.

Yes, you’ll need to register your vehicle online. All faculty and staff parking passes are virtual, so you won’t receive a hangtag. There are several types of parking passes available, and benefits-eligible faculty and staff can have their permit cost deducted from their salary pre-tax. If you need special parking arrangements, find out more here.

  • myOleMiss is where employees can update their address, contact information, and banking details, as well as access benefits information, pay stubs, timesheets and more. Current employees can log in to myOleMiss at my.olemiss.edu using their WebID.
