Student Achievement

By providing valuable insights into academic performance, progression, and post-graduation achievements, student success and outcomes data help the institution refine strategies to support student growth and achievement.

The University of Mississippi believes that higher education is transformative, and we are committed to fostering the access, support, and opportunities students need to forge pathways to meaningful lives and careers.

Our campus community is dedicated to providing the support that every individual needs to thrive because we are invested in student achievement.

The University of Mississippi prioritizes student learning and success. The University monitors multiple student achievement indicators (criteria) with thresholds and goals set by academic leaders to document, evaluate, and improve student success. Indicators include retention and graduation rates of undergraduate students, as well as licensure rates for select programs.

Retention Rates

The retention rate is the percentage of full-time, first-time, degree/certificate seeking undergraduates from the previous fall semester who are again enrolled in the current fall semester.

The Retention Advisory Board (RAB) set the retention rate threshold of acceptability at 80% which means the institution expects that a least 80% of full-time, first-time degree-seeking undergraduates to again enroll in the following fall semester. RAB also set aspirational goals based on  comparator and aspirational peers.

Graduation Rates

The graduation rate is the percentage of full-time, first-time, degree/certificate seeking undergraduates who graduate within a specified number of years.
