Job Responsibilities | The student working on this project will serve as a project manager, leading the outreach and scheduling of appointments with eligible families. This will involve community engagement with child-friendly organizations in the Lafayette-Oxford-University and surrounding areas (e.g., going to local community events such as farmers markets, schools, and library readings to talk with parents and the community about child-development research and how they can get involved in this research project on the UM campus). The student will also help to schedule appointments for our lab from a database of families who have indicated interest in child development research (e.g., sending emails out to families with toddlers, calling families to answer questions and provide more information on the projects, emailing families for participation in surveys). The student will also work as a research assistant in a research team with other graduate and undergraduate students in the CUB Lab (Cognition Underlying Behavior) in the psychology department focused on better understanding and optimizing early childhood development. With this team, the student will learn the protocol for working with toddlers in the screen use study, work with families and toddlers who come into the lab, assist with video coding and scoring of the data, help with data management, and learn statistical techniques for data analysis. |
