Current Exhibitions

The University of Mississippi Museum presents rotating exhibitions that showcase selections from its permanent collections as well as works on loan from artists, collectors, and institutions. These exhibitions explore specific themes, stories, and perspectives, offering visitors new ways to experience art, history, and material culture throughout the year.

Event Horizon Ad Infinitum

Leticia Bajuyo's Event Horizon Ad Infinitum transforms donated, obsolete CDs and DVDs into a shimmering, site-specific installation inspired by spirals, cycles, and science fiction wormholes. Moving through the museum, the work invites visitors into an immersive experience of light, sound, memory, and connection. 

Event Horizon Ad Infinitum was developed with support from the Institute for Community and Society transformation, the OU Arts & Humanities Forum, and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Partnerships at the University of Oklahoma. Additional exhibit support came from the Friends of the Museum at the University of Mississippi Museum.

Art Faculty Show

Chronicles of Luster Willis' American South

Luster Willis, a self-taught Mississippi artist, used bold colors and humor to depict everyday life and address social issues; his work is held by major museums, with a large collection at the University Museum.

Buie and Skipwith; Sisters, Artists, Collectors

This exhibit honors sisters Mary Buie and Kate Skipwith, whose artistic talents and love of collecting left a lasting mark on Oxford’s cultural landscape. Through their art and acquisitions, they fostered a spirit of creativity and preservation that continues to inspire. The exhibition invites visitors to explore their intertwined stories as artists, collectors, and visionaries.
