Brief Bio
A native of Long Island, N.Y., Dr. Aileen Ajootian joined the UM faculty in 1996. She holds master's degrees from Bryn Mawr College and the University of Oregon. She earned her doctorate in classical archaeology from Bryn Mawr. She was selected to serve as Elizabeth A. Whitehead Visiting Professor at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens for 2014-2015. Dr. Ajootian has presented her scholarly work at conferences and written extensively on Greek sculpture. She is a member of the Archaeological Institute of America and of the College Arts Association. Her fieldwork in archaeology includes research in Athens and ancient Corinth in Greece.
