Biography

Dr. Bonnie F. Van Ness is Otho Smith Professor of Finance at the University of Mississippi as well as the chair of the Department of Finance. She is a past managing co-editor of The Financial Review and a current associate editor of the Journal of Banking and Finance.

Dr. Van Ness’s primary area of research examines financial markets and the trading of securities (commonly referred to as market microstructure research). Dr. Van Ness has published over 70 research articles in journals, including:  The Journal of Financial Economics, The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Financial Management, The Journal of Financial Markets, The Journal of Banking and Finance, The Journal of Futures Markets, The Journal of Financial Research, and The Financial Review.

Bonnie Van Ness received an undergraduate degree in finance from University of North Alabama, an MBA from the University of Mississippi, and Ph.D. from the University of Memphis. Dr. Van Ness has taught undergraduate, MBA, Ph.D., and executive education courses in financial markets, investment theory, security analysis, as well as corporate finance.
