Brief Bio
Dr. James Cizdziel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry an Biochemistry. He has a BS in Chemistry from SUNY at Buffalo and a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno. He served as a NRC Postdoctoral Associate at the US EPA and as a Senior Scientist at the Harry Reid Center for Environmental Studies at the UNLV. He teaches a variety of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis courses. He is active in the American Chemical Society and has been principal investigator on grants from the NSF, EPA, USGS and DOE. His research interests are in the area of analytical, environmental, and forensic chemistry, and he has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications. He is currently investigating microplastic pollution in the Mississippi River System and trace evidence from 3D-printed guns.
