Brief Bio
Christina Torbert is the Head of Continuing Resources and Acquisitions and Associate Professor for the University of Mississippi Libraries. Before pursuing librarianship, Ms. Torbert completed a MA in English from Holy Names College in Oakland, California, while working for the library at the California College of Arts and Crafts. Ms. Torbert completed a dual-degree program in theological librarianship in 2000, and earned a MLIS from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois and a MDiv from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. She was the Serials and Acquisitons Librarian for JKM Library in Chicago for five years, before moving to the University of Mississippi in 2004. Ms. Torbert's area of research is acquisition trends and staff workflow analysis for electronic resources. In 2008, Ms. Torbert assumed the duties of Liaison to the Department of Philosophy and Religion. Ms. Torbert maintains membership in the American Theological Libraries Association, NASIG (formerly North American Serials Interest Group), and the Mississippi Library Association. In 2016, Ms. Torbert was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors for the American Theological Libraries Association.
