The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Brief Bio

Deidra Jackson is Interim Director of the Tupelo Writing Center and a Writing Instructor. Dr. Jackson received her Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi, as well as a Graduate Certification in Program Evaluation. She also received an M.A. in Journalism from UM. Her research focuses on scholarly productivity, writing groups, and the perceptions and impacts of "publish or perish." She also is interested in autoethnography and other forms of qualitative research. Since 2018, she has taught first-year writing composition courses in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric. In May 2019 she was chosen as a 2019-20 participant of the Op-Ed Project, a national initiative aimed at increasing the public impact of the nation's top underrepresented thinkers, broadening gender equity, and shifting the dynamic of public discourse. She also is a 2019-2021 UM Sarah Isom Center for Women & Gender Studies Fellow. Since 2017, she has been a contributing writer for Inside Higher Ed. Dr. Jackson also has presented research at the annual meetings of the Association of Rhetoric and Writing Studies, the American Educational Research Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and the UM Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Publications include "Adolescent Civic Involvement and the Great Recession of 2008: Testing the Certainty of Employment," The Journal of Community Engagement and Scholarship (Vol. 11, No.1, 2018) (co-author). Dr. Jackson also authored a book review, College Teaching (Forsyth, 2016), that was accepted in the Journal of Contemporary Research in Education. She also earned a B.S. from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus.
