Dr. Igor Ostrovskii is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Mississippi.
Research Interests
Dr. Ostrovskii's research interests include condensed matter physics:
- Acoustoelectric properties of Ferroelectric Multidomain Superlattices and their Applications in Ultrasonics, Medicine and Communications
- Nonlinear interactions of ultrasound with Solids, with emphasis to the nonlinear acoustoelectric
phenomena in Ferroelectrics, and Acoustical Memory effect - Sonoluminescence of crystals (excitation of light by ultrasound in solids)
Biography
Dr. Ostrovskii earned his Ph.D. in Physics and Math at Kiev Shevchenko University in Kiev, Ukraine in 1982. He was a Professor in the Department of General Physics at KSU (1984-1994). He was Soros Professor of Physics at KSU (1994-1997) and Professor and Chair of the Department of General Physics at KSU (1994-2001). Dr. Ostrovskii was a Visiting Professor of Physics at the University of Mississippi from 2001-2003.
He holds membership in American Physical Society, Acoustical Society of America, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (invited member), and Sigma Xi.
