Brief Bio
Igor V. Ostrovskii is Professor of Physics and Astronomy. Dr. Ostrovskii received his Doctor of Science and Mathematics (Ph.D.) from the Kiev Shevchenko University (KSU), Ukraine, in 1982. He was employed by KSU, Physics Department, as Teaching Assistant: 1974-1977, Docent: 1977-1984, Professor: 1984-1994, Professor and Chair of the Department of General Physics: 1994-2001. Dr. Ostrovskii was employed by the University of Mississippi, Physics and Astronomy, as Visiting Professor: 2001-2003, Associate Professor: 2003-2011, tenured in 2009, Professor: 2011-present. Dr. Ostrovskii published one USA-Patent, 10 non-USA patents, 2 Monographs, 2 Textbook notes, 168 refereed papers in professional Journals, 75 refereed conference papers. He is major professor for 12 graduate students defended Ph.D. dissertations (3 at UM and 9 at KSU). Honors and Awards: The 2010 Frist Faculty-Staff Service Award, UM; 2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 20th Century, Biographical Center in England; Fulbright grantee; Soros Professor; American Physical and Acoustical Societies; Peer Reviewer for APS and IEEE Journals. Prof. Ostrovskii teaches graduate courses in atomic, nuclear, solid state physics, and undergraduate courses in physics and modern physics. Scientific Accomplishments: Direct Detection of Cosmic Dark particles named Navitens of 10E15-eV-mass-energy, Crystal Sonoluminescence, Acoustical Memory, Ferroelectric Super-lattices, Stochastic ultrasound medical apparatus.
