Laurie Babin

Biography

Dr. Laurie A. Babin (Ph.D., Louisiana State University) is an Instructional Associate Professor of Business. Before coming to the University of Mississippi in 2019, she was a Professor of Marketing at the University of Louisiana Monroe and held the Abell Endowed Professorship in Entrepreneurship. Prior to that, she was a Professor of Marketing at the University of Southern Mississippi. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Arts from Michigan State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida.

Her research has been published in the Journal of Advertising, Journal of Business Research, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Marketing Education, Business Ethics Quarterly, International Journal of Advertising, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Legal Studies in Business, Journal of Promotion Management, International Journal of Education Research, the International Journal of Business, Marketing, and Decision Sciences, and several national and international conference proceedings.

She is active in several professional organizations and has served two terms as the President of the Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Before entering academia, Dr. Babin was an instructor at the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School from 1982 to 1986 and retired at the rank of Commander after 21 years of service in the United States Naval Reserve.
