Lixiong Guo

Biography

Dr. Guo received his Ph.D. in Finance from Vanderbilt University. His primary area of research is in corporate finance. His current research examines issues related to corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, ESG and sustainability, labor, and insider trading. He has published in leading finance journals, such as the Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and written two book chapters in the book Dynamic Term Structure Modeling published by John Wiley & Sons. He won the Best Paper Award at the 2011 Midwest Finance Association (MFA) Conference and was nominated as a semi-finalist for the Best Paper Award at the 2017 Financial Management Association (FMA) Annual Meetings. His research has been featured on the Harvard Law School Corporate Governance Forum and Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog.

Prior to joining Ole Miss, Dr. Guo taught undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral courses at the University of Alabama and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia. Besides teaching, Dr. Guo has supervised the theses of 6 doctoral students, 2 M.Phil. students, and 9 honors students. All his doctoral students were placed in tenure-track positions upon graduation, both his master’s students got into competitive Ph.D. programs, and 7 of his honors students obtained First Class Honors.
