Brief Bio
Tyrus A. McCarty is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. McCarty also serves as the Administration of Special Affairs for the School of Engineering. Dr. McCarty received his Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi in 1987. Following three years of employment with the Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station, Dr. McCarty took a position as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mississippi and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1996. Dr. McCarty’s research is in the area of computational modeling of fluid mechanics and heat transfer problems. Dr. McCarty teaches undergraduate courses in the areas of mechanics, fluids, energy, and numerical methods.
