Biography
Mitchell R. Wenger is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Patterson School of Accountancy at The University of Mississippi. Mitch earned his B.S. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois, his MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington, and his Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a CPA in the states of Texas and Mississippi.
Mitch brings twenty-plus years of practice and industry experience to the classroom. Before entering academia, he was a manager with Arthur Andersen/Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in Dallas and Charlotte before managing enterprise software projects in the retail industry and managing the logistics practice at a startup technology consulting firm. Next, he managed a services practice, evaluated potential acquisitions, developed new product prototypes, and advised in pre-sales activities for Hyperion Solutions, a financial and analytic applications software company (now part of Oracle Corporation). Mitch's primary research interests are in the area of technology: its impact on relationships within organizations and the ways in which it facilitates other changes throughout organizational networks. He is also keenly interested data science and the impact of new algorithms and approaches on organizations and society. He is an active member of the AICPA and the Association for Information Systems.
