Ryan Christian Garrick
Brief Bio
Ryan Garrick, Associate Professor, received his Ph.D. in genetics from La Trobe University, Australia in 2007. He was a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Biology at Virginia Commonwealth Univ. from 2007-2009 and was a postdoctoral research associate in the Dept. of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Yale Univ. from 2009-2011. He joined the faculty of the Univ. of Miss. in 2011. His research interests are evolutionary biology, population genetics & phylogeography, biodiversity conservation, forest invertebrates, & plant-insect co-evolution. In 2017 he was awarded a faculty research fellowship by the National Science Foundation to study how the numbers and genetic variability of four invertebrate species found in southern Appalachian forests change as their environment changes.
