Dr. Joe Sumrall is a science educator and serves as coordinator and advisor for Master's programs in elementary education.

Dr. Sumrall's research interests include project based learning, inquiry instruction, and practice based curriculum development.
Biography
Dr. Joe Sumrall received his PhD in Science Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1990. Previous to employment at the University of Mississippi he taught high school science in Florida. Additionally he worked at Northern Illinois, McNeese State, and Mississippi State Universities prior to coming to the University of Mississippi. He has been president of the Mississippi Science Teachers Association, Director for the State of Mississippi Science and Engineering fairs, and is an active member of the National Science Teaching Association. He has written books related to science education and published in multiple science education journals.
