Brief Bio

Timothy Yenter is Associate Professor of Philosophy. He has been at the University of Mississippi since earning his Ph.D. In philosophy from Yale University in 2012. Dr. Yenter's research focuses on metaphysics and methodology in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century European philosophy, and his published essays draws on a wide range of figures, many forgotten by history, who shaped ideas about humans' place in the world. He also has an active secondary research track in the philosophy of film and media studies that breaks down disciplinary boundaries between philosophy and media studies. Dr. Yenter has won multiple awards for course development, and his course design and supervised theses (undergraduate and graduate) are both marked by how they encourage research at the forefront of contemporary scholarship.
