The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Brief Bio

Zhiqu Lu is a senior research scientist II in National Center for Physical Acoustics at the University of Mississippi and a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. He received his B.S. (1984) and M.S. (1989) in Physics at Nanjing University, China, and Ph.D. (1998) in Physics at University of Pau, France. Dr. Lu has more than twenty years of experience in physics/acoustics with broad interests in physical acoustics, linear and nonlinear acoustics in porous materials and fluids, material characterization, underwater acoustics, nondestructive testing (NDT), near surface seismology, ultrasonics, rock and soil mechanics and physics, sensing technologies, acoustical imaging, thermal-physics, and medical acoustics. He is a member of ASA, AGU, EEGS, and ASA-CSSA-SSSA. His recent achievements include: passive acoustic technique for detecting, locating, and characterizing oil leakages, acoustic backscatter and reflection measurements to assess oil-on-sediment contamination, nonlinear acoustic technique for NDT nuclear spent fuel cask, a self-adaptive high-frequency multi-channel analysis of surface wave (HF-MASW) method for a variety of applications: sub-surface soil exploration and geological anomaly detection, rail track/concrete slabs/asphalt pavements/bridge decks NDEs, Raleigh wave attenuation measurement, and environmental study. Using various acoustic techniques, Dr. Lu has also conducted researches on soil characterizations (compaction, erosion, water potential and water content measurements, weather effects, and hysteresis, etc.) applied to agricultural and environmental problems. He has nine years teaching experience including Physics, Fundamental Electronics, and their lab courses.
