Biography
Antonia Eliason joined the faculty in 2013 as Assistant Professor of Law. Dean Eliason teaches a variety of classes including Contracts, International Law, International Trade Law, International Investment Law, International Finance, the Law of Armed Conflict, Gender and the Law, and Law and Science Fiction. Her research focuses on climate change and international economic law, particularly issues relating to climate justice, sustainable development, and trade facilitation. Her other research interests include the international drug conventions, geoengineering, and racial capitalism. Before joining the faculty, Dean Eliason worked as an associate at Allen & Overy in London in the US Corporate Finance group, focusing on debt and equity securities. Dean Eliason also worked in Allen & Overy’s Hong Kong office, as well as at Credit Suisse in London. Prior to joining Allen & Overy, she interned in the Legal Affairs division of the WTO and clerked for Judge Lenaerts at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. Dean Eliason received her B.S. in Cell & Molecular Biology and Computer Science from the University of Michigan, her M.A. in European and Eurasian Studies with a concentration in International Economics from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, her J.D. from the University of Michigan, where she was the recipient of a Darrow Scholarship, and her LL.M. in Air and Space Law from the University of Mississippi. She is currently pursuing a PhD in History at the University of Mississippi, researching women convicted of political crimes in Stalinist Hungary (1949-1953). Dean Eliason is a member of the Board of Directors of the ClassCrits organization, and the co-chair of the American Society of International Law’s International Environmental Law Interest Group.
