Calvin Hawkins

Biography

Calvin Hawkins began his career at the University of Mississippi in 1995 in the Office of Admissions, where he served as a Transcript Clerk, assisting prospective students through the admissions process. His passion for education and student success led him into the K–12 public school system, where he served in a variety of leadership roles focused on student achievement and educational access. Throughout his career, Calvin expanded his leadership experience by serving as a Head Start Administrator and later as a Head Start Regional Administrator, providing oversight for early childhood education programs and supporting the educational development of young learners and their families.

Returning to public education, Calvin served as the Coordinator of Student Services, where he specialized in guiding high school seniors through the college admissions process, career planning, scholarships, and postsecondary placement. His commitment has always centered on helping students identify opportunities, overcome obstacles, and achieve their educational and professional goals.

Now, Calvin has come full circle, returning to the University of Mississippi to do what he enjoys most serving students. With more than three decades of experience spanning higher education, public education, and educational leadership, he remains dedicated to mentoring, advising, and empowering students as they pursue academic success and prepare for meaningful careers.
