Dustin Parsons

Mr. Parsons is a Senior Lecturer and the Director of the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing.

Research Interests

Mr. Parsons teaches creative writing and contemporary American literature. His interests include the literature of sport and leisure, specifically baseball, and the craft of fiction and creative nonfiction. 

Biography

Dustin Parsons holds an M.A. in Creative Writing from Kansas State University and an M.F.A. in Fiction writing from the Creative Writing Program at Bowling Green State University. He previously held a tenure position in English at Fredonia State University and taught extensively in creative writing and literature. As a graduate student he was the Creative Nonfiction editor for Mid-American Review. He is the faculty sponsor for Landshark Literary Review at the University of Mississippi.

In Exploded View “graphic” essays play with the conventions of telling a life story and with how illustration and text work together in print. As with a graphic novel, the story is not only in the text but also in how that text interacts with the images that accompany it.
