Felipe Macias is the Performing Arts Technical Coordinator in the Department of Theatre & Film at the University of Mississippi.

Biography

Felipe E. Macias is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) where he served for 25 years as Designer and Technical Director in the Department of Theatre and Dance.  While at ENMU Mr. Macias served as department chair for eight and a half years, was named Outstanding Advisor and honored with the Spirit of Eastern award for outstanding achievement as a faculty member.   Mr. Macias has designed over 150 productions including, in 2015, the world premiere and subsequent European tour of the opera Hamlet, Prince of Denmark.  Other theatrical productions include: Hamlet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Clean House, Tartuffe, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Miss Firecracker Contest, The House of Bernarda Alba, Camelot and Marvin’s Room.  As a director Mr. Macias has guided such productions as Waiting for the ParadeAgnes of GodSand Mountain and All’s Well That Ends Well.  Original productions directed by Mr. Macias include: A Tale to a MusePerlaProject CerulianAurora and Three Kids Coming Home

While in New Mexico Mr. Macias served on the board of the New Mexico Alliance for Arts in Education, the Region VI selection committee for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and was, for 10 years, the vice chair for the design wing of the Southwest Theatre and Film Association.  At the time of his retirement Mr. Macias was nominated as an Arts Commissioner for the State of New Mexico.  Prior to his tenure at ENMU Mr. Macias served as the Designer and Technical Director for the Department of Theatre and Film at Auburn University at Montgomery.
